Wind Advisory Until 4 a.m. Thursday

Hazardous weather outlook

A wind advisory in effect until 4 am Thursday issued at 2:20 this morning.

Stay with Armstrong The Stream, The Allegheny News Talk Sports Network, NOAA  weather radio or go to weather.gov on the internet for more information.

The National Weather  Service in  Cleveland, Ohio reports strong winds will affect the region today into tonight.

A cold front will move east across the area today. Ahead of the Front south to southwest winds will gust over 45 mph. As the front Moves through late this morning into the afternoon

...winds will turn westerly and continue gusting over 45 mph.  Winds will begin

To decrease this evening and overnight.

* winds...southwest winds at 25 to 35 mph with occasional gusts

  over 45mph.

* winds will result in a few tree limbs coming down and possibly isolated power outages. Travel in high profile  vehicles may also be difficult. 

 

A wind advisory is issued for sustained winds of 31 to 39 mph or Gusts between 46 and 57 mph. Winds of this magnitude can cause .  Minor property damage without extra precautions. Motorists should Use caution especially motorists in high profile vehicles.

Overnight Wind Causes Downed Trees, Lines, Power Outages

Beginning at shortly before 4 a.m. Crews started handling calls for trees and or lines down on Park Avenue Extension, Hartstown Road, Harmonsburg Road, State Routes 89 and 77, Blystone Road, Plank Road, Lyona Road, Iroquois Trail,  State r

Route 77, State Route 198, Lakeview Drive, 22099 Little Cooley Road, a second location Llittle Cooley Road, Danner Drive, Agnew Road, North Lake Road, Oak Road, Crystal Lake Road, Hunter Road, and South Townline Road.  All of these in a line northeast from Pymatuning Central to the Spartansburg area. 

As of 10:32 am Penelec reported 7 minor power outages in Crawford county and Venango Counties affecting 49 customers.  Power is expected to be returned at about 11:30 am. 

Affected areas include State Route 417 between Sunville and Baker Roads in Venango County.  In Crawford County: Kuhn Street between Liberty Street Extension and Franklin Pike; South Water Street Extension south of U.S. Route 19; an un-named street off Bechtold Road between Hill Road and Routes 6/19; State Route 77 between 3 Bridges Road and Townhill Road; Taylor Stand Road between Clemmets Road and Centerville Road. 

In Warren County Penelec reports between 100 and 500 customers without power in the Grand Valley area along Route 27 between Sanford and Star Hill Roads.  Power was expected to be returned there at 11:30 a.m.

 

Additionally we also have reports of a structure fire on state route 193 between U.S. 322 and state route 87 in Trumbull County, Ohio just west of Jamestown, pa at shortly before 6:30 this morning,  and at 2558 West Center Road near the Ohio State Line just off U.S. Route 6, at shortly after 7:15 last night.  Also a brush fire in the Cochranton area at 31781 U.S. route 322. That fire reported at 7:09 pm last night.

Corry PSP Seeks Owner, Dogs in Sparta Twp Chicken Attack

The Corry State Police are looking for the owner or owners of two dogs who killed a woman's chicken and injured a second.  The troopers say the two dogs entered the property of Michelle Aversa of Spartansburg Sunday along Hatchtown Road in Sparta Township.  Police report the two dogs allegedly attacked two chickens.  The dogs are described as one German Shephard and the other a small black unknown breed with white on its chest.  The smaller dog was located and taken to a Union City animal shelter.  The whereabouts of the German Shephard remains unknown.  Anyone with information about the owners of the two dogs is asked to contact the Corry State Police.

Calf and Mother Rescued, Authorities Hopeful of Full Recovery

Newborn calf and a mother in distress caught the attention of Sugarcreek Borough Police Chief Matthew Carlson Monday morning about 10:30.  Carlson says in a release the calf was having issue milking on its mother who had a distended udder and appeared to be emaciated.  Carlson says "The new SPCS Human Officer, Deputy Brett Hill was notified and called to the scene, the location of which remains only identified as a farm usage area most likely in Sugarcreek Borough.  Carlson reports the animals' owner was contacted and eventually arrived on the scene as well.  Deputy Hill, after consultation, decided due to the condition of the mother cow and calf, and the owner unable to properly care for the animals, the cow and calf were to be adopted out.  Mother and calf are now with a rescue family. 

 

Chief Carlson says during the rescue the mother did go down and was administered fluid and electrolytes and eventually came around.  Chief Carlson says he's hopeful the mother and calf will make a full recovery.

Corry Man Charged in Alleged Bloomfield Twp Auto Theft

The fallout from a motor vehicle theft has a 35 year old Corry man locked up in the Erie County Jail.  The Corry state troopers aver the incident happened when Shelby Tuszynski allegedly took the vehicle belonging to Amy Ward, 50, of Union City, without permission at about a minute after midnight last Thursday morning from a location on Brown Hill Road in Bloomfield Township, Crawford County.  Police say both the vehicle and Tuszynski were later located in Union City Borough.  He was subsequently taken into custody and charged with theft, receiving stolen property, driving on a previously revoked or suspended license and possession of drug paraphernalia.  Charges were filed through the offices of Magisterial District Court Judge Brenda Nichols in Union City.  A preliminary hearing is set for April 11 at 10:15 am before Judge Nichols.  Tuszinski remains jailed unable to make $35,000 bail.  He is not yet represented by an attorney.

Man & Woman Charged w/ Simple Assault in Spartansburg Incident

A Corry man and a woman from Spartansburg are charged with simple assault in connection with a Valentine's Day incident in Sparta Township, Crawford County.  The Corry State Police report 63 year old Timothy Allen Conklin and 36 year old Bethany Ann Kramer  got into a verbal argument that became physical in nature.  Charges were filed in Titusville District Court.

2 Men Charged Following Steuben Twp Fist Fight

An incident of harassment late Friday night along Strawbridge Road in Steuben Township Crawford County resulted in charges filed against a 26 year old Cambridge Springs man and a 52 year old Townville man.  The Corry State Troopers say the men became involved in a fist fight.  The charges were filed in Titusville District Court.

Harmonsburg Man Unhurt in Columbus Twp Rollover

              The lone driver of a full SUV who overturned the vehicle last Thursday morning in Columbus Township, Warren County is unhurt.  The Corry state Police say the crash happened when the driver 38 year old Jason Unger of Harmonsburg was driving on White's Corner's Road about a tenth of a mile west of U.S. Route 6.   Police say at about 10:30 am Unger failed to properly engage a right hand curve in the roadway and traveled in a northerly direction across both lanes of travel, and went off the roadway on the west side.  The SUV continued to travel in a northern direction approximately 30 feet before crashing into an embankment and multiple trees cause the SUV to roll over until it came to a final stop on its wheels about 70 feet from the point of impact with the embankment facing south east.

Fire Marshal Finds Clarion Co House Fire Incendiary

The Pennsylvania State Police fire marshal and St. Petersburg Fire Department investigated a structure fire at a single family dwelling at 408 Turkey Hill Road in Richland Township, Clarion County Sunday night at 9:30.  Authorities say the investigation concluded the fire was incendiary in nature.  Damage is estimated at $10,000.

MA Man Takes Plea Deal in January Venango Co Attempted Car Theft

Last month  we told you about the attempted robbery of a motor vehicle at the Speedway Gas Station in Barkeyville, Venango county.  A Randolph, Massachusetts man,  Tan C. Nguyen, 23, stands convicted in Venango County Common Pleas Court the result of a plea deal negotiated in court.  According to online court records, the guilty plea came about last Thursday February 23rd before Senior Venango County Judge William H. White. 

Nguyen was charged with  Felony 1 Criminal Attempted- Robbery Of Motor Vehicle ,  Felony 3 Receiving Stolen Property  Felony 3 Criminal Attempted - Theft By Unlawful Taking-Movable Property, Misdemeanor 1 Stalking - Repeatedly Committing  Acts To Cause Fear ,  Misdemeanor 2 Simple Assault M2 Unauthorized Use of a  Motor or Other Vehicles , Misdemeanor 3 Criminal Mischief - Damage to Property Summary Harassment - Subjecting  Other to Physical Contact Harassment - Following In Public Place .

In exchange for a guilty plea to Felony 1 Criminal Attempted Theft of a Motor Vehicle and Felony 3 Theft by unlawful taking moveable property, all but one of the remaining 9 charges were nolle prossed and the charge was replaced.  Judge White ordered a presentencing investigation immediately and issued the order of the court on Monday February 27th and Nguyen was assessed $145 in fees and costs

Nguyen was represented by Venango County Public Defender Justin Fleeger, but later is representation was assigned to Jeri Louise Bolton, also a public defender. 

 Troopers reported the  Randolph, Massachusetts man stole a 2011Jeep Grand Cherokee from a gas station parking lot in his home town from a 58 year old Randolph, MA woman sometime on the evening of Friday, January 13.  The following day, according to police Nguyen stopped at the Speedway Gas Station at 5742 State Route 8 in Barkeyville Borough, Venango County at 9:30 am and attempted to take a vehicle from a 51 year old Mercer County man while he was inside the gas station.  When Nguyen was unable to get into the locked vehicle he waited for the Mercer man to return to his vehicle.  The man attempted to get back into his vehicle, Nguyen confronted him and a physical altercation ensued.  Nguyen eventually fled on foot. 

 

Police say as they arrived on the scene, Nguyen was found nearby and taken into custody.
